From A to B

It's much easier to create when you have suitable materials on hand.

I began drawing with biros and splotchy ink pens from Woolworths, the ones in packs of five or so, but through trial and error, I've come to need only two primary tools for my works - Moleskine medium sketchbooks and Staedtler Pigment Liners.

However, copious amounts of books and music play a key role in developing a concept before it's on paper - unless I'm thinking especially lucidly and it just falls into place.

Tap Gallery

If anyone is interested in viewing my collection during the end of December and early January, "Nocturne Acquaintances" will be housed at Darlinghurst's Tap Gallery.

Opening night is this Thursday (18th) accompanied with an array of other contemporary artworks, live music and food - my artworks will remain upstairs into the new year.

Thank you to all who attended my exhibition last Saturday :)

Night Time

For my HSC Body of Work (completed a few months back), I composed a series of illustrations accompanying a poem in bound form. My style has developed quite significantly since then, but I thought I'd post some pictures anyway. It was my only focus for quite some time there :)

Nocturne Acquaintances

For anyone who is residing in Sydney, my next exhibition is on the 13th of December at North Sydney's Community Centre (inside is the "Changeable Art" exhibition space) - a group exhibition with two other very talented women, entitled "Art & Soul" including photography and mixed media.

The exhibition is for one day only starting at 10 am, and I have about 13 new pieces on show, so come and say 'hello' if you feel like dropping by :) Plus, it's right next to the markets!

Address - Civic Park, 220 Miller Street North Sydney

A little MORE introduction..

I'm currently working on a series of picture books that I hope to have finished by early 2009, and am in the process applying to art schools in Sydney.

A little introduction..

Here are some (poorly taken) photographs of some illustrations from my previous exhibit, "Realms Of The Fantastical". These are copies though, I sold all but one of the framed ones, 12 altogether.

I pretty much always write a phrase or some other oddity below or aside each drawing. More often than not they are nonsensical.

1. "I've Sewn Myself A Hat"
2. "Alas! A Haircut Is Not Necessary When You Are Melting"
3. "Travelling Pants And Boots Are Best Even If You Aren't Going Anywhere"

Hallo.

As an aspiring illustrator I suppose I thought I'd set up this blog so that my goings-on can be followed...by anyone interested. My drawings are all a little odd or "rum" if you will, and I work primarily in Moleskines.

I'll post some of my illustrations from my last (and first) exhibition soon.
